Hourglass in horn made circa 1630/1650

Hourglass in horn (very rare material for a sandlass) composed of two circular bases, decorated with concentric moldings, held together by five turned baluster-shaped columns.

Inside is a flask formed of two elongated greenish "bubbled" glass bulbs containing a beige colored limestone sand.

The bulbs, whose bases are flattened with a bulge, are joined together by wax covered with a beige fabric and a linen cord also beige in color.

Dimensions: height of 8.9 cm x diameter of 4.7 cm.

France or Italy circa 1630/1650.
