Rare hanging reversed compass from a Royal Admiral Ship dated 1766.

This instrument allowed the Admiral to check the route from over his bed.  The body of the compass in the shape of a crown in guilted metal.

The rose is signed « Nicolas Lennich in Altona 1766 ».

Royal supplyer of the Hanse Hambourg. The glass shows an old restore.
