Nocturnal in brass partly guilted.

Complete with its fixed disc, its rotatable disc and its rotatable arm. The tiny hole in the center is destined to point the Polar Star.

The reverse side is presenting a perpetual calendar under a silver shield ready to accept armories.

Dimensions : 8,7 cm high x 4,8 cm diameter

France datable circa 1580.

Reference : this nocturnal has been illustrated in photo in the reknown French book “L’antiquaire de marine”(“the marine dealer in antics”) by Jean Randier (see photos below) and announced c. 1580.
