Meerschaum sculpture of the bust of Princess Sophie of Prussia
Meerschaum sculpture of the bust of Princess Sophie of Prussia (1870 / 1932), daughter of Prince Frederick III of Prussia (last German Emperor) and Princess Royal Victoria of the United Kingdom.
The Princess is shown aged 6 to 8 years with a ribbon in her hair and another on her bust, as well as a pearl necklace with a cross as a pendant.
The bust rests on an attractive stand made of two pieces of carved amber, one of opaque orange amber and the other of translucent red amber.
Note: Princess Royal Victoria was the eldest child of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and Prince Albert. She received the title of Princess Royal of the United Kingdom in 1841. She became German Empress and Queen of Prussia by marriage to the German Emperor Frederick III.
