Celestial sphere, gilt copper engraved.

The sphere is divided into twelve parts of 30° and includes the Ecliptic, Equator, Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn as well as the two circular circles "Circulus Articus" and "Circulus Antarticus". The globe has many constellations with their Latin names as well as many stars with a scale of magnitudes from 1 to 6.

The sphere, opening in two parts (plain and gilded inside), is supported by an Atlas resting on a circular base made of gilt copper and engraved with decorations of masks, interlacing and fruits.

The top of the sphere is surmounted by a small statuette in copper gilt depicting a soldier standing with his spear and his shield.
